Vita

Fenja Lukas, born into a family of artists in Munich, joined the permanent opera ensemble of the Linz Music Theatre in 2015 while still a student. Since then she has been able to build up a broad repertoire and has already performed in many important roles in her field.

She has recently received rave reviews from both the press and the public for her role of Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro under Markus Poschner. She will perform this role again at the Linz Music Theatre during the 2022/23 season. She will also make her role debut here as Almirena in Handel's Rinaldo and sing Lisa in Kálmán's Gräfin Mariza.

In previous seasons she sang Nannetta in Verdi's Falstaff under the baton of Dennis Russell Davies, Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni under Enrico Calesso and Valencienne in the Lehár operetta Die lustige Witwe, conducted by Johannes Wildner.

„Her interpretation of Susanna in "Le nozze di Figaro" is simply perfect, both vocally and in terms of acting. One can perhaps do it differently, but certainly not better.“

— Markus Poschner | Chief conductor Bruckner Orchester Linz

Other important roles she performed include Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème, Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio in a production by artistic director Hermann Schneider, the soprano part in Orff's Carmina Burana, Anne Frank in Grigori Frid's mono-opera of the same name, Juliette Vermont in Franz Lehár's operetta Der Graf von Luxemburg or Euridice in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice. For the latter she was nominated for the Austrian Music Theatre Award in 2017.

She also performed the role of Euridice in a successful dance theatre version at the International Daegu Opera Festival in South Korea in 2016, for which the entire ensemble was awarded the Grand Prix de Daegu Festival 2016 for best production.

„Fenja Lukas charmed the audience as Nanetta with her beautiful soprano and captivating performance.“

— G. Helbig | Opernglas (Falstaff)

Fenja Lukas won the first prize at the Operetta Competition of the Anton Bruckner Private University in 2014 and was also part of the Ö1 Talentebörse. She was voted “audience favourite” by the visitors of the Linz Music Theatre during  the 2016/17 season and was awarded the Richard Tauber Medal. As part of Junge Talente Oberösterreich, she sang a world premiere by the composer Michael Floredo at the Bruckner Festival in St. Florian in 2016.

The young soprano obtained her degree from the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz where she studied concert voice with Katerina Beranova. In 2016 she graduated with honours with a Master of Arts. She received further important artistic impulses in master classes with Kurt Widmer, Malin Hartelius, Christoph Prégardien and Wolfram Rieger.
